I have decided that I will update this page as I understand a few people have been looking at it to check that I am still alive.

I was lucky enough to become interested in folk music in my mid teens via a supply teacher/guitarist called Rod Willmott at Ified Grammar in Crawley. He was a regular visitor to Redhill Folk club which at that time was one of the best in the country. The residents at the club were also two of the best singers/guitarists in country Dick Richardson and Dick Hook.

I had my first and only guitar lesson from Dick Richardson and after a few years became one of the club residents myself after Dick Hook moved away from the area. This was in the heady days of regular guests like Paul Simon, Bert Janch, John Renbourn, John Martyn, Bert Loyd, etc.

Being particularly interested in traditional English music I also spent a great deal of time with renowned song collector Ken Stubbs and regularly picked up Harry Holman, Scan Tester and George Spicer to take them along to sessions.

I started Horsham folk club over forty years ago and have been playing ever since mostly in pubs around Sussex. I have written a number of songs some of which have been recorded by such folk luminaries as Martyn Wyndham Read, Damien Barber, Mike Nicholson, Harry Mousdell and Gordon Bok. Recently have become the "owner" of a Squire Strat (especially selected and set up by Henk Philipson) in my capacity of guitar/banjo player with OkeeDokee.

I have some badly recorded stuff I did about 20 years ago and converted to Real Audio plus some lyrics which people have asked me for. Two people actually!

My open mic night is now on Tuesday at the www.jollytanners.com - every Tuesday.
